Jasmine must realise that motherhood is not the end of adventure, or risk losing her friends forever.

Going Down South is about a young woman with mild triplegia going to university for the fist time. She looks forward to her freedom from her single-mother and the estate where they live.

Jasmine is determined to experience university the same way as other students, but her fear of ending up like her mother pushes her friends away. When Jasmine learns that her friend, Lola, had a one night stand, Jasmine belittles Lola and tells her that her university life will be over if she is pregnant.

This is because Jasmine also had a one-night stand and feared she was pregnant.

Jasmine and Lola have a university trip on the same day, and Lola distances herself from Jasmine. Jasmine believes that she sees Lola board the cruise ship and ends up on the wrong ship. A storm prevents the ship from returning back to the harbour and the Captain is injured during the voyage.

Jasmine must work through her issues about single-parenthood and her issues about benefits or risk losing her friends for good, all while trying to keep the ship steady until the storm passes.
