Death’s Hourglass is a feature-length film that tells the stories of Mara Stone and Hayden Ward as Mara prepares to pass the mantle of Death to Hayden. Hayden does not want to become Death and Mara must change his mind before life and death in Britain changes forever.

When Mara died of the black death she was six years old, but over 700 years, she experienced the world in a way she would never have believed. She has embraced her role of Death… that is, until she has to take Hayden’s soul. As she connects with his soul, energy leaves her; she knows it means one thing. Her time as Death is up.

Hayden is not happy about the news either. Only in the prime of his life, he is not ready to leave Earth and he certainly isn’t ready to become Death. Hayden believes Mara’s life as Death has been a mental torture; this is because Mara’s room on Death’s Plane looks exactly as it did when she was alive on Earth. Hayden takes this as Mara clinging onto her pass life and does not want to be part of it.

However, Mara’s Death powers grow weaker. She cannot carry on collecting the souls. If she does not change Hayden’s mind, then life and death will come to a stop. An opportunity arises when Hayden’s daughter makes it to the top of Death’s list.

This forces Hayden to watch his daughter struggle through life. He learns his cling onto life is affecting his daughter’s behaviour, and because death has all but stopped, his daughter’s attempts to end her life only gets worse.

Hayden must try to save his daughter by embracing his new path — Death.
