Little Sea Bear Update—a reflection

Hi Everyone. I know it has been a long while since I have posted at Little Sea Bear. I'll be lying if I said it was solely coursework. I mean, coursework was a major aspect of it, but it certainly wasn't the only thing that has kept me away.

University, A WordPress bug and planned update.

University Update

Last semester, we had a module: Market and Producers, and I will say that I feel that my absence has something to do with my research through the module. You see, our lecturer was absent or did not teach us the brief during most of the module, so my class and I had to research things for ourselves.

It wasn't all bad, although frustrating. The module required me to look at my current work experience, where I wanted to be in the future and where I am now.

I also completed an online social media and networking course, which the university offers for free to current students—I probably shouldn't have done it alongside my masters, but oh well. It went well.

Along with this, one of my Lecturers has asked me to help with her social media, and a few friends have asked me to manage and design their website.

This got me thinking about Little Sea Bear, where it is and what I would like to do with it.

I'll get to that later.

WordPress Bug

A few months back, WordPress updated their editor to a block platform known as Gutenberg. In many ways, this new update is better but in others, it did cause me to use motivation.

There was a clash with the old editor verse the new editor, so many of my posts content disappeared. It did knock me back for a little while. I believe that content is still gone, but things happen I guess and it's time to get back on my feet and continue blogging.

Update to Little Sea Bear

Feedback

Another reason I have been absent is because I asked for your feedback awhile back. You suggested some site changes. My menu seemed too complicated, and the writing on the phone was too tiny to read.

I have fixed issues such as the font as soon as I could, but I want to take on all the other feedback too. So I have been planning on how to redesign Little Sea Bear in order to make navigation easier.

My posts will also go through an update, adding headings and breaks. This is to make them easier to read on the phone.

I'm also thinking of discontinuing Berg's book club, or posting once every 6 weeks. It's hard work to read a book and write a review every week and I feel attempting to do so affects the quality of the posts.

What are your thoughts? Please answer in comments.

Freelancing

I have also gave freelancing a consideration and decided that it is somewhere to start. While I am many ambitious about screenwriting, I am also passionate about web design. I have already started getting clients and have started writing the CSS for my clients websites.

I am wondering whether to incorporate my web-building services onto Little Sea Bear or have a different site for it. What are your opinions?

Let me know in comments. Remember, you don't have to be signed in to comment (and you can comment anonymously).

Thank you 🙂

Ps... I have a hearing date for PIP!

  1. Aaaah! The last sentence made my heart swell, I’ve been wondering how you were doing! Keep your fight in you! <3 When's your date, if you don't mind me asking? (if you don't want to say that's fine too)
